Corinne W. Murrin, 96, of Rock Island, passed away, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Services for Mrs. Murrin will be 10:30 am, Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made toSt. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.
Corinne was born on July 28, 1917 in Dubuque, Iowa, a daughter of Harry S. Weiss and Marie Bray Wiess. Corinne graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Rock Island in 1935. She married Francis Murrin on September 9, 1939 in Rock Island. Mr. Murrin preceded his wife in death on March 24, 2012. They had been married for 73 years. She was active in the Sacred Heart Home and School Association. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She also sang in the St. Pius X funeral choir. Later Mrs. Murrin worked at Cunningham's Religious Store, Rock Island and at Berryreids, Moline. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Corinne and Frank enjoyed their trips to Florida and Wisconsin.
Survivors include her children, Mary (Tony) Thorpe, Taylor Ridge, Barbara (David) Sodac, Bettendorf and Michael (Barbara) Murrin, Taylor Ridge; grandchildren, Michelle Timmer, Teresa Thorpe, Greg Thorpe, Cathy Paskvan, Christopher Sodac, Amy Bolt, Rachel Andrus and Lee Arnould; and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Murrin was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; a grandson, Benjamin Sodac; and a brother Dr. Harry A. Weiss. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com
