Courtney Marquise Penson, 35, of Moline, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Livestreamed memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, and may be viewed online via https://www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Courtney Marquise Penson was born December 15, 1986, in Rock Island IL. A son of William Brooks Jr. and Monique Penson. Courtney attended school at Earl Hanson and Edison Jr. High in Rock Island IL before moving to Chesapeake VA where he was raised by his Aunt Linda (Mom) Penson, he graduated from Deep Creek High School in 2005.

From an early age Courtney had a deep passion for music, he enjoyed mixing beats and putting lyrics together. Courtney was a huge sports fan and proudly wore his team colors. The Lakers and Cowboys were his favorite teams. He also had a love and collection of tennis shoes (sneakers) that he proudly had on display in his bedroom. Courtney was the big brother to his younger brother Brandon whom he loved dearly. Courtney always made sure Brandon was included in any decisions that had to be made. He would always ask are you okay with this Bran or you have something else in mind.  No matter where he was, he would always call Aunt Linda (Mom) for advice.

Courtney returned to Moline IL in 2013, he never met a stranger that he couldn't find something to chat about, he was so full of life and had a smile with dimples that said it all.  He loved going to Leisure Time and was known as a regular.

Those left to cherish Courtney's memory include his father, William Brooks Jr. siblings, Brandon Penson, Lakeisha Brooks, Shaunice Brooks, Terrance Madison-Brooks and Jayden Graves. Aunts: Rosalind Penson, Darlene Penson, Renee Penson, Shirley Barbie (Marcus), Linda (Mom) Penson and Michele Penson, Shelly Brooks-Lucas, Uncle Greg Penson (Stephanie) and two very special cousins (Lil) Greg and Anaysha (muffin) Penson. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and many Special Friends from Leisure Time.

Courtney was preceded in death by his mother, Monique Penson and grandparents Juanita Penson, Willie Barnes, Aunt Janice Penson, and grandparents William Sr. and Earnestine Brooks.
