Dale E. Dusenberry, 66, of Rock Island, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, or to a favorite charity. Dale was born Aug. 21, 1950 in Rock Island, the son of Clarence and Evelyn Fuller Dusenberry. He married Peggy J. Sheehan on Sept. 13, 1980 in Moline. He was a police officer for the City of Rock Island for over 29 years, where he worked in several different departments. While with the police department, Dale served as a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a representative to the Community Caring Conference. He retired in 2004. Dale then served over ten years as a Public Safety Officer at Augustana College. In early years, he worked part-time for United Ambulance Co., Rock Island. Dale served with the Illinois Army National Guard. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Allouez Council 658 Knights of Columbus. He served on the Jordan Catholic School Commission and was a Rock Island Little League coach. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Johanna Dusenberry, Rock Island, Patrick and Sarah Dusenberry, Bettendorf, Jarrod Dusenberry, Rock Island, and Eric Dusenberry, Orion; grandchildren, Bridgette, Brooklyn, Sadie, Aaron and Ashlan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marietta and Lee Schrader, Andalusia, Marcella and Lee Dickerson, Moline and Ruthann Willfong of Ohio; mother-in-law, Pauline Sheehan, East Moline; 11 nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Elroy Sheehan; sister-in-law, Debbie Johnson; and brother-in-law, Jerry Willfong. Online condolences may be left at wheelanpressly.com.
