Dale Allen Schmidtke, 74, of Andalusia, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.  Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, is assisting the family.

Dale was born in Nashua, Iowa on October 7, 1942, a son of Henry Otto and Lois Rose Schrieber Schmidtke.  He married LaDonna Saner on April 3, 1976 in Reynolds, Ill.

Dale drove a truck for 33 years and retired from Hyman Freightways, Rock Island, in the late 90's.

He enjoyed wood working, fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Schmidtke, Andalusia; children, Dan Schmidtke, DeWitt, Iowa and Stacey Schmidtke, Andalusia; grandchildren, DJ and Trevor Schmidtke; great-granddaughter, Harper Schmidtke; and siblings, Fred (June) Schmidtke, Sullivan, Mo., Roy (Laura) Schmidtke, Bourbon, Mo., David (Betty) Schmidtke, Omaha, Neb., Evelyn Thielan, Sullivan, Mo. and Carol Tipp, Rockwall, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Rhoads.
