Daniel E. Jones, 62, of Milan, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at UnityPoint Health -Trinity Rock Island.

Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Daniel Edward Jones was born May 29, 1952 in Burlington, Iowa, a son of H. Edward and Carolyn R. Schilb Jones. He married Vicki L. Kenney Stone on June 2, 1990 in Moline.

Dan graduated from Campus High School in Wichita, Kan. After attending college, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. Following his service in the Navy, he did construction work with his father for several years. Dan later joined the Rock Island Fire department and served as a firefighter/paramedic. After his retirement from the fire department, he worked several part-time jobs, last working in security at Jumer's in Rock Island.

He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR. Dan enjoyed playing Santa Claus at family gatherings and working with his wife in the yard. He had a special fondness for his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughter, Heather Jones, Burlington; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Naomi Jones, Port Byron; granddaughter, Clara Jones, Port Byron; mother, Carolyn Jones, Burlington; and brother, Ronald Jones, Burlington. He was preceded in death by his father.
