Danielle Lane Pieres, 57, of Moline, died peacefully surrounded by family, early Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, as a result of a sudden, massive hemorrhagic stroke she suffered at home on July 6, of which she never regained consciousness. Her remains were cremated and interred at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.

Danielle was born in Moline on March 10, 1961, the youngest child and only daughter of Arthur Hezekiah and Eleanore Florence Bendt Chambers. She grew up in Rock Island, attending Frances Willard Elementary and Washington Junior High, and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1979.

While in school, Danielle was employed by the High School as part-time office assistant and at McCabe's Department Store in the lingerie department and after graduation, at Regalia Manufacturing, both in Rock Island.

She married Fredrick Wike Domeyer on September 29, 1979 in Moline, later divorcing in 1981.

Danielle married Patrick Pieres on August 27, 1983 in Rock Island. In 1991, they moved to Simi Valley, California. She worked for the Simi Valley Unified School District at Vista Elementary School as the cafeteria manager until 1996 and later for Weight Watchers as a receptionist in Simi Valley and as the location coordinator in Thousand Oaks. There, she was affectionately known as "Dr. Dani" by staff and clients for her compassionate listening abilities and was recognized as the company's 2010 employee of the year. She also continued her education through the creative writing program at Pierce College in Los Angeles. They retired in 2011 and returned to the Illinois Quad Cities. She was a proud participant of the 2017 Women's March in Washington, D.C. and took part in many local marches and protests in support of womens' and immigrants rights.

Danielle was an intelligent, independent, inspiring, and empathetic woman. She had a generous heart and a caring soul. She was a strong advocate for kindness, diversity, equality and for raising the voices of those not often heard.

Danielle knew from an early age that she was an adopted child and her parents lovingly raised her without hesitation. It was this life experience that was at the core of Danielle's nature to be kind, loving, accepting of those who felt different, and perceptive of those struggling to find their way. One of her greatest pleasures later in life was to be joyfully embraced and accepted as a sister by her biological siblings.

Danielle loved and respected all of nature, whether quietly touching a majestic oak, listening to a raging waterfall, or watching in fascination as dragonflies and butterflies roamed her yard. And she was never happier than listening to a roaring summer thunderstorm. Because of her concern for displaced and misused animals, she was a strong vocal advocate and financial supporter of The Elephant Sanctuary for the life care of and safe haven for rescued elephants.

Survivors include her husband of almost 35 years, Patrick; children, Cassie Day, Rock Island and Nathan Pieres, Chatsworth, CA.; grandchildren, Hailey and Conner Day; siblings, Dave (Lou) Chambers, Ed (Diane) Mumma, Chuck (Debbie Krohn) Mumma, all of Rock Island and Sandy (Greg) Kurutz, Menomonee Falls, WI.; her 100 year old mother-in-law, Lorna Pieres, Sun City, AZ; aunt and uncle, Alice and Harold Sandberg, Davenport, IA; best friends, Jackie Ulner, Colona, IL, Jamie Reichl, Madison, SD, and Lori Carlin, Iselin, NJ; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law, Jo Chambers and Cinda Pieres Helke, and father-in-law, Gerald Pieres.
