Darell R. Nicke, 76, of Milan, died Friday, July 30 at Allure Care, East Moline.  A graveside service will be 10:00 am Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented.  Those wishing to attend should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, by 9:30 am Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a disabled veterans organization of your choice.

Darell, son of Donald and Mary (Dawson) Nicke, was born in Oakland, California on June 11, 1945 where the Navy doctor misspelled his name on the birth certificate.   Despite that, Darell served in the U. S Navy.  He retired from Case New Holland in 2004 and also operated his own business, Music Masters.

Darell married Mona Bustos in March of 1970.  They later divorced.  He married Glenda Bechtel in 1974.  They later divorced.

He is survived by his sons, Sean (Effie) Nicke, Huntsville, Alabama, Nathan Nicke, Geneseo and Brian (Shawna) Nicke, Davenport; brother, John Nicke, Wapakoneta, Ohio; a granddaughter; and five grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and Michael Nicke and a step-granddaughter, Sarah Martin.
