Darlene M. McCarthy, 92, of Milan, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the Church of Peace, Rock Island.

Darlene was born on July 25, 1928 on Knoxville Road in Milan, the daughter of Albert F. Sr. and Vera (Bestian) Runge.  She married Allan McCarthy in Rock Island on February 16, 1952, he preceded her in death on June 30, 1969.

In her earlier years Darlene worked at the Sturtevant Dairy in Rock Island and the Rock Island Bank and Trust.  Later she cleaned private homes and businesses.  She liked being a homemaker best and loved her family.  She was a life time member of the Church of Peace, Rock Island.

Darlene is survived by her: son-in-law, Mark D. Voorhies, Rock Island; brother, Harold (Mary Ann) Runge, Milan; two step granddaughters; and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Diane; brothers, Raymond Runge and Albert Runge Jr.; and her parents.
