Darrell was born on October 23, 1927, in Goss, Missouri, the son of William and Viola (Donavan) Puckett. On March 6, 1948, he married the love of his life, Charlotte "Peggy" Minard. They shared over 50 years together before her passing in 2002.

Darrell began working at the young age of 13, starting out in a local bakery in Davenport. At 18 years old, he went on to work at John Deere before embarking on a long and devoted career as a truck driver, a role he took great pride in until his retirement in 1993. Over the years, he logged millions of miles on the road, earning a reputation for his dedication and skill behind the wheel.

Outside of work, Darrell had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at the pool table. Darrell also enjoyed going to the casino.

Those left to cherish Darrell's memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Leah Puckett Jr., Calamus, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Lou Ann and Wendell Long, Davenport, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy; son, Danny Puckett; daughter, Celia Oniel; brother, William Puckett; and sister, Virginia Sharp.

Memorial contributions may be made to Darrell's family to be established at a later date.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Darrell's daughter-in-law, Leah, for her unwavering love, support, and care. A heartfelt thank you also goes to UnityPoint and Genesis Hospice, as well as the compassionate staff at the Clarissa C.
