Darrell L. Thorpe, 52, of Coal Valley, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at home.

A rosary will take place on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 3:30 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be Monday, July 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. This event will be livestreamed and can be viewed at https://www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. This event will be livestreamed and can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/843238707 . Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Rock Island County Animal Shelter.

Darrell was born August 18, 1970, in Pittsfield, IL, to Daniel and Shirley (Sheppard) Thorpe. He married Julie Tobin on October 14, 2000, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island. Darrell was a self-employed CPA.

Darrell's life was centered around his children and he was always involved in their sports and education. He was also an active member of the Boys and Girls club. Darrell loved to travel and while on his travels he loved to try new foods. He enjoyed golf and watching the show Yellowstone. Darrell was an avid Notre Dame Fan and loved watching all types of sports, especially golf tournaments.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie; children, Shawn and Skylar; parents, Daniel and Shirley; brother, Patrick Thorpe; and beloved dog, Ruby.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Shawn.
