Obituary

Darrius D. Martin, age 49 years 9 months, passed away unexpectedly on September 5th, 2025, in San Pedro, California.

Born on January 7th, 1976, in Rock Island, Illinois, son of Gary Echols and Marilyn Watson, Darrius was a beloved father to four children. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Darrius was known for his quick-witted humor, much like his mother's, he was open to new experiences any chance that he got, and though untitled he prided his self on his boxing abilities, played the piano and taught his self other languages. Although Darrius had no formal accolades there wasn't anything that he couldn't learn to master on his own. The number of people he helped in life will never be fully known or appreciated by most.

Family and friends remember Darrius for his steadfastness in his truth and character. He enjoyed deep conversations whether it was a new skill he was interested in or a new book he read. Darrius found joy in his ability to uplift people through experience or humor. His warm smile, compassionate heart, and his sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met.

Darrius Martin is survived by his beloved children; daughter Kaela (James) Brewer, sons Darrius J. Martin, Demani Martin Weathers and Darrien Martin. Grandchildren Kayana Mayfield, Jayla Brewer, Jordan Mendoza, Damani Martin Weathers Jr., Lainey Mendoza. Siblings Jerrell (Penny) Jones, Ryan Doyle, Gary Echols Jr., Kylie Echols. Special cousin Rukesha Shell. And a host of extended family members and friends. Darrius was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Joseph "Joe" D and Johnnie L (Powell) Martin, Aunts Allie Mae Martin Shell, Janis Martin, Allison Matthews and Kanisha Sanchez. Cousins Damon Foulks and Taurean Rhoden.

Darrius D Martin's legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren forever. God bless his soul.
