Obituary

David "L.P. 44" R. Ashpaugh II , 44, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday November 1, 2020 at home.

No services are planned at this time. David's family plans to host a celebration of his life at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

David was born September 5, 1976 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of David and Geraldine Novotny Ashpaugh. He married Michelle M. Daxon on September 7, 2002 at First Lutheran Church, Rock Island.

He currently served as operations manager for Republic Services, Bettendorf. He worked in shipping and logistics for many years with U.P.S. and FedEx.

David served in the Army National Guard, and was a member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge. He was an avid Raiders, Hawkeyes, and Star Wars fan. He enjoyed playing in softball leagues for many years. Dave's favorite times were those spent with friends and family. He loved playing video games with his daughter, and enjoyed activities with his son.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle Daxon-Ashpaugh, Rock Island; children, Daxon and Declan Ashpaugh, both at home; parents, David and Geraldine Ashpaugh, Rock Island; mother-in-law, Dawn Daxon, Moline; aunts and uncles, Betty (Craig) Davis, Milan, Barb (Kevin) Stotmeister and Therese Nichols, all of Commerce, Ga.; Robert Nichols Davenport, Iowa, and Arthur Jr. (Elsie) Ashpaugh, Milan; sister-in-law, Edina (Jason) Palmer; niece, Tajia Taylor; nephews, Keevan and Kylen Taylor; and numerous cousins, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
