David Lee Brodnax, 74, Rock Island, IL passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at River Crossing in Moline. There will be a visitation from 10-11:00 AM with a memorial service 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials preferred to the family.

David was born on September 7, 1948 in Pemiscot County, MO to John and Alberta (West) Brodnax. He grew up in Topeka, KS where he graduated high school. David moved to the Quad Cities in 1969 for work. He was employed in the factory for John Deere for many years before retiring due to health reasons.

In 1971 he was united in marriage to his best friend Charmaine McCorkle. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their children.

After his retirement, David became known as "The Bike Man," repairing and building bikes for many in the community. He was very talented, and the bikes looked brand new when he was finished with them. David saw the good in everyone and was always one to help others, often giving rides to people. His sense of humor was also cherished by his loved ones. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather.

David is survived by his children, Shannon Jones; Tameka Davis; and Joshua Brodnax; grandchildren, Danielle Holt, Davon Holt, and many others. Also surviving are siblings, Jesse Mae; and Woody and Benjamin "Billy" Brodnax and Dorothy Mae; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Claire Mae and William Brodnax.
