David J. Martin 45, of West Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home.

Memorial services are 10 a.m. Thursday (7/24/2014) at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Private burial will be later. Memorials may be made to a fund for his children's education.

David was born June 23, 1969 in Moline, the son of John and Carol Dellitt Martin. He married Kim Voortmann on May 22, 1999 in West Des Moines.

He graduated from St. Ambrose University and had worked in accounting department in the corporate headquarters of Hy-Vee Food Stores in Des Moines.

David enjoyed golfing, playing the drums and watching and playing baseball. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island.

Survivors include his children, Madison and Noah Martin, West Des Moines; mother, Carol Martin, Rock Island; sister, Susan Martin, Virginia Beach, VA; and Debbie and John Damron and their children, Derek and Carleigh, all of Ottawa, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father, John.
