David L. Griffin Jr. of Rock Island, Illinois formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away September 5, 2025. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services.

David was born an identical Twin on September 1, 1965 to the late David Griffin Sr. and Ollie Jean Edwards. David attended Davenport Public Schools and worked at various jobs throughout his life. David was a Boyfriend for 18 years to his High School Sweetheart Veronica before becoming her Husband for 26 years. A Father to his Daughter Shetara Johnson and a Proud Grandfather to his GrandTwins Al'on and Alana.

During his younger years he participated in Amateur Boxing in both the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities. There were two things he enjoyed most, watching collegiate sports "Go Blue" and trash talking, which was quite evident during any given Saturday while hanging out at the Brooks Brothers Barbershop Cut Creators. Not only did he love Smooth Jazz, he enjoyed coffee in his regular cup of sugar. David liked domestically traveling with his family and was intrigued with the various eateries in the different cities. It was often said that he had never met a stranger because of his talkative demeanor. Both his perplexed slang lingo and infectious personality will sorely be missed.

Those closest to him that are left to mourn and cherish his memory are, His Wife Veronica, Daughter Shetara (TJ) Johnson, GrandTwins Alon and Alana, His Mother in law Shirbie Orr of Rock Island. Sister in law Glenda Griffin of Waterloo Iowa. Sister Vanessa (Dwayne) Tatum of St. Louis Missouri, Sister/Cousin Vernita (Anthony) Oliver of Davenport Iowa, Cousin Dung Griffin of Davenport Iowa, Nephew Josh Griffin of Des Moines Iowa. His Sister in laws Donna Phillips of Cedar Rapids Iowa, Verdell Phillips of Rock Island, Brother in laws James Phillips of Rock Island, Tyrone(Gayla) Phillips of Davenport Iowa. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his God Parents Deacon John and Maxine Bryant, His Parents David Griffin Sr. and Ollie Jean Edwards. His Father in law James Phillips Sr., His Twin Brother Davin Griffin. His Sister in law Sonya Phillips. His Uncle Flynn Griffin. His Uncle Tommy Williams, His Uncle Brother Anthony Edwards and Both sets of Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
