David A. Kelly, 83, of Milan, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Royal Ball Run for Autism or GiGi's Playhouse Quad Cities in Dave's memory.
Dave was born on June 14, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of John Carl and Myrtle E. (Muenks) Kelly. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1960 and married Diane Smith on October 20, 1963, in Hamlet.
Dave worked at East Moline Metal Products for more than 25 years before retiring. In retirement, he embraced being a true jack of all trades, happily lending a hand as a handyman whenever someone needed help. He was a member of Preemption United Methodist Church and was especially proud of his volunteer work with the Royal Ball Run for Autism and GiGi's Playhouse.
Dave loved spending time outdoors, mowing his lawn, tending to his yard, doing remodeling projects, fishing, and deer hunting. Above all, he cherished his family. He was deeply proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and never missed any of their activities or sporting events.
Those left to cherish Dave's memory include his wife of 62 years, Diane; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Renee Kelly, and Kevin and Jackie Kelly; grandchildren, Alex (Paige), Austin (Andrea), Nathan (Rebecca L.), and Noah (Rebecca M.) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Addisyn, Jasmine, Ella, and Cameron; siblings, Mary Lou Spore, Kathy (Stu) Etheridge, Sherry Courter, and Dale (JoVaughn) Kelly; and very good friends, Karen and Jerry Gillett.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Lee Kelly; brother-in-law, Gary Courter; and nephew, Todd Spore.
