Obituary

David F. Naab, 72, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday January 22, 2015 at his home unexpectedly.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan and Fr. Ted's Kids Mission in Kenya Ltd.
David was born on April 17, 1942 in Rock Island, the son of James and Marjory (Stanley) Naab. He married Marilyn Murphy on November 28, 1966 in Delavan, IL.
He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Naab had been employed by Trausch Bakery, Dubuque and previously was employed at the former Farmall Works, Rock Island and United Insurance.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Allouez 658. David volunteered at Sacred Heart Food Pantry and served evening meals as a ministry of St. Pius X Parish at Rock Island Township. He also loved supporting Christian Children's Fund and the mission work of Father Ted Hochstatter in Kenya, Africa.
Dave loved spending time on crossword puzzles, was a computer guru and was also a devoted Illini, Bears and Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years Marilyn, who was his best friend and love of his life; brothers, Michael Naab(Kurt Stevens), Thomas (Steph) Naab, Christian (Andrea) Naab; brothers in law, Larry (Linda) Murphy, Rich (Dar) Ackerman, Cork (Judy) Platts, Ron (Carol) DeMeyer. Dave was the best brother ever, an awesome uncle to 19 nieces and nephews and a second dad to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Naab; sister, Sandra Naab-Muller; nieces, Melissa Naab-Thompson and Christine Ann Zimmerman.
