David J. Newberry Jr., 93, Moline, IL passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Bickford Moline Cottage. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

There will be a visitation from 10-11:00 AM with a funeral following at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude.

David was born on January 30, 1931 to Ruby (Halterman) and David Newberry Sr. in Kewanee, IL. He grew up in the Quad Cities and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Rock Island, IL. David retired as a computer programmer from Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric after 38 years of service.

On June 25, 1955 David married his true love Georgia Hardin at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. The couple raised their family in in the Quad Cities before retiring to Florida in 1993. David returned to Moline in 2020 to be closer to family after the passing of his beloved Georgia.

David loved entertaining and was very social, talking and joking with everyone. He and Georgia were a joy to watch on the dance floor. While living in Florida, David golfed multiple times a week. He fished off his dock and boated in the bay. David and Georgia attended mass regularly.

David is survived by his children, David (Beth) Newberry, Kelley (Jim) Stout, and Laura (Art) Farrance; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgia; and siblings, Duane Newberry, Alice Race and Evelyn Lower.
