David Coats Parker, 88, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was with his wife whom he adored with all of his heart as well as his family.
A private celebration of life will be held, and inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to David's family to be established at a later date.
David was born in Moline, Illinois on December 18, 1936, the son of Paul and Ruth (Simmons) Parker. David's roots were grounded in his faith and his family. David was a lifelong resident of Rock Island. He was proud of where he called home and always had a story of what his life was like growing up.
David graduated from Rock Island High School in 1954 after which he attended Augustana College and the University of Iowa. David then returned to Rock Island and began his career working with his father, Paul, in the family business, Parker Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co.
David married the love of his life Barbara Lenix on August 19, 1956, in Burlington, Iowa. They had two children, Elizabeth (Ducey) and David Jr.
In 1986, David and his wife, Barbara, opened the Victorian Inn Bed & Breakfast which they operate still today.
David had been a realtor with Century '21 Cornelis-Simpson for over 30 years.
David was a member of the Rock Island Rotary Club, a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at the University of Iowa, Past President of the Illinois Laundry Association, and was on the City of Rock Island Planning Commission.
Surviving David are his beloved wife, Barbara; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Ducey; son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Vickie Parker; grandchildren, Emily (Tanner) Ayers-Berry, Andrew Parker, and Robert Ducey; and great grandchildren, Grace, Olivia, and Myles.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Paul Parker Jr.
