David "Slim" B. Patton, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at home surrounded by his wife and six children.

Funeral services will be 10:00am, November 21, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm November 20, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital.

Slim was born October 14, 1955, in Philadelphia, to Horace and May (Andrews) Patton. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball, swimming, and shooting pool. He married Bonnie Garcia on December 18, 1982, in Rock Island. Slim took pride in his job as a professional bun fondler at Harvest Day Bakery. He took pleasure in coaching his children's sports teams and volunteering at their school, especially dressing up as Abraham Lincoln. Slim loved his music and animals dearly. He was an avid sports lover, especially his Eagles. He was fond of spending time with his rascals(grandchildren). He was the neighborhood dad and loved the house filled with kids and playing basketball in the alley. He was a friend to all and couldn't go anywhere without knowing someone.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bonnie; his children Michelle(Mark) Riffe, Jamie Garica, Crystal(Jared) Reickard, Nikki Findlay, David Patton, and Marguerite(Andrew) Dasso; his grandchildren Skylar Garcia, Zach Riffe, Taylor DeSplinter, Pierce Findlay, Jordan Rieckard, Charley Findlay, Devan Reickard, Izabell Patton, Payton Riffe, Ella Dasso, Marie Dasso, Logan Dasso, Frankie Patton; honorary children Joseph Findlay, Sanford Hotchkiss, Angel Lopez, and Shawn Rottman; siblings Eloise Patton, Grace(Jeff) Casey, Ruth (Fred) Fox, Steve Patton, Phil (Doreen) Patton; and many other loving friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Patton.
