David Scott Sexton, 54, of Rock Island, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Private inurnment will be at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 pm. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

David Scott Sexton was born Oct. 21, 1960 in Denver, Colo., a son of David and Barbara Paprocki Sexton.

He graduated from Davenport West High School. Scott worked as a riverboat captain. He began his career working on the Julie Belle Swain in LeClaire, later moving to the Showboat Branson Belle, in Branson, Mo. Scott returned to the Quad-Cities and served several years as the captain of the Channel Cat.

He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Scott was an avid Hawkeye and Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed cooking and doing yard work.

Survivors include his brothers, Michael and Patrick Sexton, both of Rock Island; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas and James.
