David M. Smith, 47, of Coal Valley, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at home.  Funeral services for David will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and a Masonic funeral service will  be held at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of UnityPoint Hospice.

David was born on September 5, 1969 in Rock Island, the son of Jerald J. and Judith A. (Johnson) Smith.  He attended Moline schools and had worked for Twin City - Holland and Vonachen Services.  He also had several private landscaping contracts in the area.

David was a member of Trio Masonic Lodge #57 in Milan and greatly enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jerry and Judy of Coal Valley; daughter, Ketra Fields of DeWitt, Iowa; sister, Kate Smith of Moline; aunt, Mary Ellen (Jack) Peeters of Davenport; uncle, Donald (Monica) Smith of Rock Island; special friends, Kris and Colleen Cederoth, Coal Valley and a host of other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
