David L. Zachert, 74, of Preemption, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at his home. Memorial services for Mr. Zachert will be 11 am, Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church, Andalusia. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hamlet Cemetery.

David was born on September 15, 1947 in Rock Island, a son of Ernest and Katherine (White) Zachert. He married Diane Lowe on June 14, 1975 in Brookville, Ohio. He received his engineering degree from the University of Illinois. Later, David received his master degree in engineering from University of Dayton. Mr. Zachert had worked in the quality assurance department at General Motors/Delco, Butler Manufacturing and the Rock Island Arsenal. He also farmed in rural Buffalo Prairie. Dave was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. Mr. Zachert loved his church and loved the Lord. He had served in the Army National Guard.

Survivors include his loving wife, Diane; daughters, Georgina (Dale) Ward, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jami (Don) Housman, Florence, Alabama; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Morgan, Gridley, Illinois; and a brother, Steven Zachert, Flint, Michigan.
