Obituary

DayQwon M. Jones, 27, of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Services for DayQwon will be 11 am, Thursday at the Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, Illinois. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family.

DayQwon was born on October 13, 1995, in Moline, the son of Michael D. Jones and Consuelo Hickman. DayQwon graduated from Rock Island High School in 2014. He completed 2 years of college at Western Illinois University. DayQwon worked as a supervisor at Performance Food Group, Rock Island. He was a member of Destiny Baptist Church, Rock Island. DayQwon was a great athlete who loved playing basketball, track, football, and even wrestling at Rock Island High School. He also loved working out. His greatest love of all was his 3 girls. They were his whole world. He loved spending time with his girls going to the park, doing their hair, shopping, watching TV, and playing games. DayQwon was loved by many, he had a heart of gold. He helped many people over the years, was a protector of all, and was a true leader. He made everyone feel special and loved. He was a true friend to all and an incredible person. DayQwon gave unconditional love, support, guidance, warm hugs, and laughs. His smile was big, bright, cheerful, and charming. He was our shining star.

Survivors include his mother and step father, Consuelo and Amos Johnson Sr.; children, Ila Grace Simmer, Azaylah Renee Jones, and Michaela Thyri Jones; siblings, DayBreonna Jones, Rock Island, Michael Jones Jr., Rock Island, Atoris Slater, Rock Island, Shakayla Jones, Davenport, Chardi Lewis, Davenport, Brushay Pugh, Rock Island, Roy Jones, Davenport, Amos Johnson Jr., Rock Island, Arriaja Johnson, and Travon Aldridge, Rock Island; grandparents, Billie Jones, Marvin and Bibian Hughes and the Rev. Dr. Donald and Rhonda Johnson; special niece and nephew, Alonzo and Alani Cole; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
