Dean W. Anderson, 101, of Rock Island passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Friendship Manor.

Visitation will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home Knox Chapel on Saturday February 22, 2025, from 10 to 11 immediately followed by funeral and graveside service at Rock Island Memorial Cemetery and Mausoleum. There will be a luncheon at Church of Peace Rock Island afterwards.

Dean was born on April 8, 1923, in Rio, Illinois, son of Wallace and Ada Anderson.  Dean graduated from Alpha high school in 1941, started work at John Deere Wagon Works completed a 4-year tool and die apprenticeship and assigned to supervisor of maintenance, tool and die department then later promoted to Senior tool engineer in 1975 which he held until he retired in 1982. On April 29, 1945, he married Elcna Todd of Pinckneyville, Illinois, they celebrated 67 years together. They were members of the Holiday Rambler RV club and traveled throughout the world. Following Elcna's stroke in 2004 they moved from their home in Rock Island to Friendship Manor. Dean was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), had a lifetime membership with the Masonic Fraternity, enjoyed making stained glass and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elcna, two brothers, three sisters and granddaughter Teresa. Survivors include sons Darryl(Karen) of Bettendorf, Dwight(Ruth) of Moline, and Todd(Kelly) of Rock Island. Grandchildren Sara(Jeff), Brian(Stacy), Blake, Emily(Anastasia), Garrett(Karen) and Alec. Great grandchildren Libby, Kennedy, Ava, Everly and Gwendolyn.
