Dean James Spriet, 59, of Rock Island, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm Thursday, August 18th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. A private family memorial service and inurnment will follow at Moline Memorial Park, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dean was born November 24, 1956 in Moline, a son of David, Sr. and Delores Nicholson Spriet. He graduated from Moline High School.

He had worked at George Evans Corp., John  Deere, Quad City Die and was currently employed at Lewis Machine & Tool Co.

Dean was first married to Charlene DeJonghe. He later married Linda Grooms, with whom he had a daughter, Dena Spriet.

Surviving are his daughter, Dena; father and stepmother, David, Sr. and Bonnie Spriet; brother, Dale (Laurie) Spriet, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores; brothers, Daniel Spriet and David Spriet, Jr.; and longtime companion, Beatrice Trott.
