Deborah J. Gerstenberger, 67, of East Moline, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 7th at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Laurel United Methodist.

Deborah was born on May 28, 1955 in Springfield, IL, a daughter of Charles Gerstenberger and Shirley R. (Raymond) Holden. She worked as an Office Associate for the State of Illinois for 36 years before retiring.

Deborah was a member of many organizations including, Springfield Center for Independent Living, where she was the president of the board of directors, the YMCA bowling association, and St. John's Hospital and Memorial Medical Center, where she volunteered. She taught Sunday school for Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield, IL and was a tutor for the Springfield School District. Deborah was also a very strong advocate for the disabled.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mom, Shirley (Raymond) Holden, Rock Island, IL; siblings, Becky (Russ) Hodgeman, Galesburg, IL, Lee (late Patti) Gerstenberger, Niles, IL, and Carla (Dan) Lawson, Little York, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Charles Gerstenberger; step dad, Raymond Holden, and sister in law, Patti Gerstenberger.
