Obituary

Deborah S. Stroup, 61, of Moline, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, surrounded by her loving husband and children. Visitation will be from 12-1pm Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. A funeral service will be 1 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the church. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials in care of St. Matthew Lutheran Church or to the family for a later memorial.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Deb was born February 14, 1961 in Sterling, Illinois, a daughter of James and Lucille Tifft McAuliffe.  She was one of ten children.  Deb was united in holy matrimony to Leon Stroup on April 14th, 1985 and together they had four children.

Deb stayed home to take care of her children until they started school where she then began to volunteer in every way possible at Audubon Elementary. She worked in the lunchroom and subbed as a paraprofessional in the classrooms. She enjoyed the students and teachers and she was adored in return.  As her children grew, she continued to stay very involved with them, while working at Checkers, Osco and Godfathers Pizza.

When Deb wasn't working or taking care of her family, she enjoyed going to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She loved visiting with her many friends, making and sharing chocolate chip cookies and banana bread, playing games, cards, and watching crime shows. She also loved putting together puzzles and doing crosswords and word searches. Her time spent shopping with her youngest daughter was precious and would always enjoy the memories that the two of them made together. She had the best sense of humor, one that could cause the most incredible laughter. She loved listening to Christian music and hearing the hymns and the praises to God. Her favorite times were spent with her family both near and far and especially loved spending time with her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play the sports they loved to play and they loved to have her cheer them on. Her seven grandchildren made her eyes light up and gave her incredible happiness and joy in her life. She loved them with all of her heart. Her family was her world and she loved everyone beyond what words can express. But above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She had a trusting and loving relationship with Him and her greatest accomplishment in life was to raise her children in that love and understanding and to also share that love with her grandchildren.

Deb was truly a blessing to all who knew her and was always so kind and appreciative for everyone that she had met. She had made many friends over the years and always enjoyed the time they all shared with her. Deb was a registered organ donor, and was eternally grateful to be an organ recipient. After the lung transplant, she encouraged others to become organ donors and believed in the importance of organ donation. Deb was preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Stroup; son Solomon (Lacey) Stroup, her twins, Eisen (Shauna) Stroup and Hollyne (Michael) Wagner and her youngest daughter, Trinity Stroup and her seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jena, Jordan, Zechariah, Elowyn, Grace and Caleb.

The family wishes to express their thanks for all of the support and prayers and would like to say a special thank you to the Lung Transplant team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
