Deb was born in Burlington, Iowa to LaMonte Duke and Shirley Duke Simms on March 13, 1951. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and attended the University of Iowa. Deb married David J. McDaniel on April 24, 1982 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Together, they made their home and raised their family in Rock Island. Their children are Rachel Hayden, Logan and Tyler McDaniel.
Deb's first career took her to Regional Visual Merchandising Director for several Younkers stores. After retiring in 2003, she immersed herself in volunteer activities, especially with Junior Board of Rock Island, Alleman Heritage Ball and Quad City Arts. Deb served on the board for the Autism Society of the Quad Cities. She turned volunteerism at Quad City Arts into a second career as Festival of Trees Staff Director. Deb's great passion and talents in life were to serve family, friends and community. She was a tireless worker for the charities she cherished and valued her many friends. Her family, including her parents, siblings, extended family and of course, her beloved husband, children and grandchildren came first. Family challenges only made Deb a stronger person.
In addition to her husband; and children, Rachel (Brandon) Hayden, Logan (Mindy) McDaniel, Tyler McDaniel; grandchildren, Carter, Nolan and Elijah Hayden, Dylan McDaniel, and Kingston Haynie; Deb is loved and will be remembered by her parents; sister, Karla (Dennis) Standard; brothers, Greg (Lisa) Duke, Kevin (Janetta) Duke and Mike Duke; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
