Obituary

Deborah Jean (Seales) Barrett passed away on June 9, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island surrounded by her family.  Her beautiful spirit was enjoyed by many for 70 short years.  Her family and friends and the many people who were impacted by her life are deeply saddened by her passing.  Debbie was born September 1, 1952, at Moline Public Hospital, the first child of Herschel Wayne and Betty Jean (Warren) Seales. She married Daniel Barrett on April 28th of 1984. Visitation will be on Friday, June 16th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband Daniel Barrett as well as her beautiful daughter and daughter-in-law Megan and Brooke Doyle. Debbie will live forever in the hearts of her siblings Jim Seales, Rebecca (Seales) DeJonghe (Steve), Kimberly (Seales) Brown (Joe). Nephews Joseph Seales (Bridgette), Jacob Seales, Colin Brown; nieces, Andrea Ringle (Jeff), Jordan Johnston (Bradley), and Emily Brown. Great nephews, Benjamin, and Eli Seales; great niece, Harper Johnston. Honorary grandchildren, Liam, and Marek Cunningham.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Betty and her youngest brother Jack Seales, whom she loved and admired very much.

She attended elementary and secondary schools in Moline but graduated from Rock Island High School in 1970. After high school, Debbie graduated from Sawyer Secretarial School of Business. Debbie made many friends throughout her working years at Sears Service Center, THE Rock Island Bank, American Bank, Cottage Corner, and Shuda Chiropractic.

Debbie grew up in a musical household, fostering a life-long love of music and the arts.  She had many fond memories of singing with her family. She had an eclectic appreciation for many types of music including blues, country, pop, rock and classical. She spent hours creating art in many forms that she loved to share with others and was a voracious reader. Of all her pastimes, however, nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her family.

Debbie's beauty began on the inside and radiated outward through a smile that uplifted so many. Her love, faith, and kindness shined a light on each person who was fortunate enough to know her. Her smile and loving spirit lives on in her daughter, Megan, of whom she was so proud. She will be forever missed.  Until we meet again…
