Debra A. "Debbie" Mathews, 68, of Rock Island, died Monday, August 23, 2021 at her home. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

Debra was born on October 2, 1952 in Kewanee, a daughter of Earl and Regina (Wahl) Screeton. She married Dean Mathews on May 12, 1973 in Moline. Debra graduated from the former Moline Public School of Nursing in 1973 and worked as a registered nurse, retiring in 2016. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren and fur babies.

Those left to cherish Debra's memory include her husband, Dean; sons, Scott Mathews, and Michael (McKenzie) Mathews, both of Rock Island; father, Earl; grandchildren, Brianna, Kristina, Kayla, Alayna, Keller, and Eliza; and siblings, Holly Globstad, Texas, Carol Stout, Kewanee, Lynn Rowley, Kewanee, and Steve Screeton, Texas.

Debra was preceded in death by her mother.
