Debra Jo (Pieper) Wakeland, 70, of Blue Grass, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, June, 16, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be two-hours prior to the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Grass Community Charitable Drop Off Program (bgccdop@mediacombb.net).

Debra was born August 23, 1952, in Rock Island, a daughter of Bruce and Norma (Smith) Pieper. She graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1970. In 1974, Debra married Larry D. Wakeland. She was a loving homemaker when her children were younger and later worked at ABC Supply Company with her husband. Debra was a longtime member of Memorial Christian Church, where she was active in the music and children's ministries. Debra enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She also enjoyed visiting Minnesota and fishing. Above all, Debra loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, and puppies.

Those left to cherish Debra's memory include her husband, Larry; children, Jason Wakeland, Jaime (Ryan) Iossi, Jenessa (Nick "Gene") Burton-Westerfield, and Joanna (Sean) Kindig; grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren, Josie, Alexander, Zachary, Madelyn, Ashton, Mya, Ethan, and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Juniper and Ryker; siblings, Greg (Mary) Pieper, Chris (Becky) Pieper, David (Sharon) Pieper, Kevin (Valeree) Pieper, and Bonnie (Bob) Warnock; life-long bestfriend, Debbie Seymour; and puppies, Bella and Luna.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Abbott; and brother-in-law, James Abbott.
