Dennis L. Anderson, 80, Rock Island, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at his home. There will be a visitation from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Denny was an avid Bears fan and the family requests people wear their Bears gear. Private burial at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.
Denny was born on August 19, 1944 to Harry and Billie (Porter) Anderson in Rock Island. He graduated from Rocky in the class of 1962 and shortly after began his career as a machinist. He worked for Farmall for 22 years and then Red Jacket for 15 years. After his retirement, he owned and operated a lawn care business, Handy Andy's Lawn Care.
Denny met Vicki Hess in April of 2008 through their children. The couple made their home in Rock Island and have enjoyed the past 17 years together. They liked golfing, taking their Camaros for drives, attending their grandkids' events, and going to supper every Friday with their friends. They belonged to Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church and they were very active members of the Eagles Club, often doing karaoke, and playing shuffleboard and euchre. Denny was also the chaplain for the men's group. He was always willing to help anyone he could.
Denny is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Terri Anderson; stepdaughter, Ronda (Mark) Czerwinski; grandchildren, Cameron (Katie Kinder) Hast, Austin Czerwinski, Jordan Czerwinski, and Jarrett Czerwinski; great-grandson, Carter Hast; brother, Gerry (Mary) Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents; son; Johnny Lee Anderson; and siblings, Marylinn Fredette and Kenneth Davis.
