Dennis D. Askam, 73, of Moline, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Moline.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at National Cemetery, Rock Island with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.  Those wishing to attend the service are to meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island at 11:00 AM to drive in procession to the cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Dennis was born on November 5, 1942 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Donald and Arlene (Bloch) Askam.  He married Judy Pease on April 17, 1971 in Rock Island.  Dennis worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Milan.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Askam, Moline; daughter, Mandy Vallee, Rock Island; sisters, Doreen (Tom) Devore, Harrisburg, VA and Annette Askam-Maas, TX; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
