Dennis "Duke" F. Schneider, 82, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left in care of Alleman High School, Rock Island.

Duke was born on January 6, 1942, in Kewanee, IL, a son of Francis and Avis (Johnson) Schneider. He married Marjorie "Marge" Stolley on October 12, 1968 in Rock Island and she preceded him in death on September 10, 2003. Duke worked as the Operations Manager for Dohrn Transfer Company in Rock Island before retiring.

Duke thoroughly enjoyed sports and was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. He was also a big supporter of Alleman High School.

Duke found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life: sharing breakfast with his high school comrades, cheering on his grandchildren at their sport events and relishing every moment spent with his beloved family. His legacy as a father, grandfather and friend is unparalleled, leaving behind memories that will be forever cherished. The void left by his passing will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

Those left to cherish Duke's memory include his sons and daughter in laws, Steve (Kim) Schneider, Chicago, Craig Schneider, Bradenton, Florida, Brad (Mary) Schneider, Rock Island, Matt (Tara) Schneider, Moline and Jeff (Andrea) Schneider, Bradenton, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, Olivia, Quincy, Michael, Noah, Reagan, Bianca-Hanh,  Alex, Tyler, Madison, Isabel, Hailey, Nolan and Reid; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Josiah; and siblings, Pat (Wayne) Shull and Tom (Jackie) Schneider.

Duke was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
