Denny L. Alter, 61, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his home.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois.

Denny was born on January 23, 1965, in Iowa, a son of Francis Dean Alter Sr. and Delanna Rose (Deitz) Alter. He worked for T. Steele Construction for many years. Denny enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a special bond with his beloved dog, Pepper, and cherished the time spent with his many close friends. Denny will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to honor Denny’s memory include his brothers, F. Dean (Tina) Alter, Jr., Rick (Stephanie) Alter, Tony (Amy) Alter, and Ramey (Amanda) Alter; close friends, Timothy Miner Sr., Craig and Marsha Long, Cord Williams, Matt Graham, Scott Wakeland, and Scott Lesage; and many other very close friends.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents.
