IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dewey D.
Hines
October 5, 1955 – March 25, 2023
Dewey Doyle Hines, 67, of Milan, IL passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home.
Dewey was born on October 5, 1955, in Moline, IL to William and Marcia Rae Barr Hines.
He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1974 and then married Kim Watkins on March 13, 1976, in Milan. They just celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary.
He was a member of Laborers' Local Union No. 309, Rock Island and worked in the construction business with several companies over the years; his main one was Getz Construction. Upon retirement from the construction business, he then started to work at his second home, Jim's Knoxville Tap. He was currently working at the Greater Quad City Auto Auction.
If you knew Dewey, then you knew that Jim Prochaska was like a second father to him. He had a special bond with all of the Knoxville Family and was known by many that considered him a
best friend, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, drinking buddy, and just an all-around good guy.
Many of you have met Dewey through baseball, darts, pool leagues, and Jim's. He was a huge Chicago Bears fan, Chicago Cubs fan, and Illini College Basketball fan.
At some point in all of our lives Dewey touched our hearts in many ways. Even though he was a stubborn person and tried to hide his feelings; we all got that soft moment with him eventually. He will be missed more than he thinks he deserved.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; son, Chad; and daughter, Megan (Mike) Ayers. grandchildren, Aeriale, Logan and Faith; sister, Tracey (Scott) McVay; and several family members and friends. Along with Jim Prochaska and the Knoxville Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Kermit Stevenson; and his brother, William Jr.
Memorials may be given to his family or donate to the charity of your choice in his memory.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or service.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 15th from 1 pm to 4 pm at Jim's Knoxville Tap.
