Diane von Dresky, 82, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.  Cremation rites were accorded and she will be spread in the ocean as were her wishes.  A celebration of life gathering will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 1-2:30 pm at the Lake Davenport Sailing Club located at 1255 E River Dr. in Davenport.  A eulogy will begin promptly at 2:30 pm and may also be live-streamed and recorded via https://vimeo.com/848071119.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of any organization which supports the care and well-being of animals.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, assisted the family.

Diane was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 16, 1940. She is the daughter of Harland Richard von Dresky and Irene Louise Applequist Potter.

Diane had an adventurous spirit and never met a stranger. She selflessly cared for others almost her entire life. Her energy and determination enabled Diane to become the first female engineer to work for the Illinois Bell telephone company.  She retired in 2005.

Diane enjoyed sailing -especially on the ocean, animals, art – particularly local art and artists, traveling, sewing, and spending time with friends and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Richard von Dresky of Ft. Collins, CO., her nephew Jeff Swim of St. Petersburg, FL., and her forever loving son, Paul von Dresky of Houston, TX.

Online condolences, memories and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com
