Diane Ortscheid, 78, of Rock Island, passed away at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday  at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Diane was born January 2, 1938 in Moline, a daughter of Leon and Marie (Wood) DeMeyer. She married Richard C. Ortscheid on May 26, 1956 in Moline. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1999.

In earlier years, Diane was a full-time mother and homemaker. In later years, she was a hostess at the Village Inn in Moline.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Diane loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and caring for her cat, "Ferrari".

Surviving are her children (and spouses), Eva Schafer, Rock Island, Richard (Cindy) Ortscheid, St. Charles, MO, Carol Merriman, Rock Island, William Ortscheid, East Moline, and Julie (David) Stone, Reynolds, IL; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Donald (Kay) DeMeyer, Rock Island, Sally Swanson, Bettendorf, IA, and Sam (Sharon) DeMeyer, Milan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Strong, Sterling, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sister, Crystal Nelson.
