Dixie L. Aguirre, 79, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Services will be 10 am, Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Dixie was born on May 30, 1938 in Calamus, Iowa, a daughter of Paul Meier Sr. and Hazel Jasper Meier. She married Mike Aguirre on May 17, 1999 in Milan. Dixie had worked as an credit manager at Montgomery Ward and later at Emeis Golf Course, Davenport before her retirement. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Survivors include her husband, Mike; son, Gary (Pamela) Edwards Jr., Medina, OH.; stepchildren, Michael (Vickie) Aguirre, Davenport, Cynthia Hughes, Irmo, S.C. and JoEllen (Jason) Zeimet, DeWitt; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings Don Meier, Rock Island and Donna McKinney, Moline. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gary Edwards Sr.; daughter, Shanda Edwards; one brother; and five sisters.
