Dolores J. "Laurie" Senger, 71, of Rock Island, passed away Friday December 18, 2015 at Unity Point Health, Trinity, Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Private Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, with visitation following until 7:00 p.m., at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, IL, Memorials may be made to Alleman High School, Rock Island.
Laurie was born January 26, 1944 in Omaha, Neb., a daughter of Bonnie E. and Vivian J. Hackett Thornton. She married Lawrence G. " Larry" Senger on August 3, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Laurie was employed with HyVee Food Stores for 30 years. She retired as Customer Service Manager at the Rock Island HyVee earlier this fall.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Laurie loved her work, cooking, spending time with family, and going on cruises with Larry and her family.
Surviving are her husband, Larry, of Rock Island; daughters (and spouses), LuAnn Senger, Muscatine, Iowa, Linda (Russ) Keizer, Maui, Hawaii, and Lisa (Bruce) Downing, Moline; grandchildren, Katherine (Matt) Lents, Hanover Park, Ill., Joey (Molly) VanderVennet, Glendale, Ariz., and Zachary Senger, Moline; great-grandson, Noah VanderVennet; brothers and sisters, James Thornton, Rock Island, Geraldine Thrasher, Las Vegas, Nev., and Joyce (Joe) de Haas, Austin, Tex., and Robert "Bob" Thornton, Moline; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Juzek.
The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Garneau, Dr. Sharis and their staffs. They would also like to thank the nursing staff at 4 South of Trinity, Rock Island, for their kindness and care.
