Dolores A. Wilde Swails Bivens, 74, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Amber Ridge Memory Care in Moline, Illinois. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory,  Rock Island. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9619  140th St. W., Taylor Ridge, Illinois on Thursday, April 21 at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon to follow. Memorials and donations in Dolores' honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Dolores was born on February 11, 1942 to Lawrence and Dorothy (Crouch) Wilde and was the oldest of six children. In August 1964, she married Ronald Swails, with whom she had three children: Rhonda Eagle, Jerri Howard and Ken (Kelly) Swails. She later married Ronald Bivens in January 1985.

Education was her passion. She earned her bachelor's degree from Marycrest College in Davenport. After briefly teaching in Milwaukee, she accepted a position at Audubon Elementary School in Rock Island, where she taught for 34 years. She dedicated herself to teaching her students, later earning her master's degree and additional education from Western Illinois University.

In her spare time, Dolores was a music enthusiast, playing the piano, accordion and organ. She was an avid dancer and also loved to work in her garden.

Survivors include her three children; three grandchildren, Lyndsey and Andrew Eagle and Cassie Cantrell; sisters, Donna (Gene) Keys, Jerri (Paul) Mapes, Jan (Frank) Hornbuckle, and Barb Wilde; brother, John (Vicki) Wilde; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
