Obituary

Don F. Farmer, 94, Rock Island, IL passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 at his home. There will be a visitation from 4-6:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Inurnment at a later date at Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trio Masonic Lodge #57.

Don was born on June 3, 1931 to Roy and Delta (Johns) Farmer in Marion, IL. He grew up in the area, graduating from University High School in Normal, IL. On December 5, 1951, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served until 1953 when he was honorably discharged.

He then attended Blackhawk and IL State Colleges, earning an Associate's Degree. Don spent his career working as the maintenance supervisor for the Rock Island Centennial Bridge.

On April 2, 1955 Don was united in marriage to Betty Garrison in Rock Island. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their three children.

Don was Third Degree Mason and 3 time Past /Master of Trio Lodge # 57 in Rock island.

He is survived by his children, Kevin (Brandy) Farmer and Samantha (Bryan) Pulliam; grandchildren Sean (Brittny) Condon, Nikolas Schemel, Ian Farmer, Lane Farmer, Timothy (Acadia) Schemel; step grandchildren Joseph Bedwell, Ryan (Tiffany Bedwell, Brenna (Jeromy) Cox, Mackenzie Timm, and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his spouse Betty, eldest daughter Fawn, and his siblings, Louise Burk Charles Farmer.
