Donald W. Ackley, 66, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday May 22, 2014 at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island.A private family inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, at a later date.

Donald was born December 18, 1947 in Olean, NY, a son of Pauline Ackley. He married Sandra Morris McNeal on August 1, 1993 in Moline.

Donald was a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he was a computer operator. He later worked as a management and program analyst at the Rock Island Arsenal. Following his retirement from the arsenal, he was a truck driver for several area companies.

He was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569, and formerly a member of Rock Island Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy, of Rock Island; children (and spouses), Maureen (Robert) Blakely, Aileen Yost, Edward (Heather) Fleming, and Elizabeth Fleming, all of Omaha, NB, and Kevin (Andi) Ackley, Bellevue, NB; stepchildren, Lauri McNeal, Robin McNeal-Blevins, Johnel Reed, Jeannette Johnson, and John McNeal; grandchildren, Kimberly, Michelle, Heaven, Tamara, Kristen, Samara, Kyle, and Bailey; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey; two brothers; and a special cousin and lifelong friend, Peggy Green, Allegany, NY.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, Herbert and Anna Belle Ackley, and one brother.
