Donald Lee Berthoud, 79, Moline, IL passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at his home under the care of Hospice. There will be a visitation from 4-7:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Private interment at Moline Memorial Gardens. Memorials preferred to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Don was born on February 3, 1944 to Robert Berthoud and Ethel (Farren) Dunblaizer in Rock Island. He graduated from UT High School.

On June 27, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sue Harder in Moline. The couple made their home in Moline where they raised their children.

Don was a meat cutter for many years before he and Tom Walker opened Cattlemen's Meat Market in 1983. He retired in 2009.

Don was a member of the Meat Cutters Union and a lifetime member of the Quad Cities Cruisers. Don loved old cars, restoring and showing many hotrods at car shows over the years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a diehard Bears fan. He also spent a lot of time taking care of his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue; children, Donald (Michelle) Berthoud, Silvis, IL; Dawn (Dave) Gallens, Cambridge, IL; Kellie (Sam) Alvarez, Dominican Republic; Scott Berthoud, Moline, IL; and Bree Thompson, Pekin, IL; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Berthoud, Las Vegas, NV; and Daniel (Gloria) Berthoud, East Moline, IL and Roberta Berthoud, East Moline, IL.
