Donald C. Long, 82, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Overlook Village, Moline. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at the KNOX CHAPEL of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave., Rock Island . Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the KNOX CHAPEL of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Donald was born on August 31, 1939, in Princeton, Illinois, a son of Raymond and Bernice (Streed) Long. He married Donna J. Livengood on July 6, 1958. Donald owned and operated Long's Carpet and Interior in Rock Island for over 23 years. He also retired from the Rock Island Fire Department as a lieutenant fire fighter after 20 years of service. Donald was a member of Memorial Christian Church in Moline and 15th Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island. He was also a member of the Illinois Association of Retired Fire Fighters. Donald was a big supporter of the sports programs at Rock Island High School. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Above all, Donald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Donald's memory include his wife, Donna; children, Rodney (Louise) Long, Taylor Ridge, Daniel (Barbara) Long, Sherrard, Amy (James) Lauterbach, Rock Island, and Jeffrey (Luisa) Long, River Forest, IL; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and brother, Raymond Long.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Robert Long; and sisters, Betty Cutler and Ruth Allen.
