E. Husted
August 13, 1943 – December 24, 2020
Donald E. Husted , 77, of Rock Island, passed away at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport on December 24, 2020 of COVID-19 complications.
Private live-streamed services are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan (and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/milan-live-stream). Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery. Current public gathering requirements are to be observed. Memorials can be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan or the Community Baptist Church in Andalusia.
He loved chatting with friends and family, and always made people feel welcome. His kind heart and generous personality are already greatly missed.
Don was born August 13, 1943 in Rock Island, Illinois, to Richard and Anna (Cleaveland) Husted. He married Connie L. Massey on April 25, 1964. Don began his career with John Deere Harvester Works on December 9, 1963, and retired from the combine manufacturing division with 31 years of service on April 1, 1995.
He enjoyed car shows, driving his Corvette, spending time with the dogs he and Connie adopted over the years, antiquing, fishing, gardening, and cheering on his favorite sports teams: the Bears, Cubs, and River Bandits.
Don especially loved spending time with his brothers. They always had fun together. Most recently, he and his brother, Frank, would grab chocolate malts (Don's favorite) and hot rod around the Quad-Cities in Frank's vintage Camaro.
Survivors include daughters Tammy (Lynn) Kerres, Taylor Ridge, and Marsha Husted, Rock Island; grandchildren, Adam (Johnna) Kerres, Lindsay Hocker (Tony Watt), Kyle Hocker (Ann Dobesh), and Abby (Dylan) Mayers; great-grandchildren Adalynn, RayLynn, and Everett; siblings Frank (Kellie) Husted and Kathy (John) Paulsen; and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his parents; and his brother, Charles Husted.
