Donald E. Hentrich, 92, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Bickford of Davenport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 24, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Don was born March 27, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Hepburn and Frances (Zantow) Hentrich. He graduated from Bennett High School, Class of 1949. Don was united in marriage to Martha M. Alongi on July 14, 1951, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2022.

Don was a salesman at the Sieg Company for 40 years. He then owned and operated DH Automotive Equipment Sales, Inc. for over 10 years before retiring.

Don was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island and the Rock Island Auxiliary Police. He enjoyed working on cars for family and friends and spending long hours in his garage. Don also loved fishing and boating on the Mississippi, taking annual lake trips to the Northwoods near Hayward, WI, and wintering in Florida.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He adored his great-grandchildren and loved getting on the floor and playing with them.

Those left to cherish Don's memory include his son, Donald Michael (Shigeko) Hentrich, Denver, CO; daughter, Linda Martha (Dan) Johnson, Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Brad (Kassi) Johnson, Aaron (Kristy) Johnson, Jeremy (Lydia) Johnson, Michael (Adonia) Hentrich and Misun Hentrich; great-grandchildren, Natalia, Addison, Aiden, Nathian, Mia, Keeton, Karson, Caleb, Alina, Annalise, Melanie, Coralynn, Paisley, Michael, Lincoln, Charlotte, and one on the way; brother, Hep (Eileen Kaplan) Hentrich; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hentrich.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Martha; brother, Robert "Bob" Hentrich; and sister-in-law, LaReatha Hentrich.
