Donald Lee Hillman, 78, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Milan Christian Food Pantry.
Lee was born on November 28, 1936 in Quincy, the son of Rex and Alice (Groce) Hillman. He married Camilla Duytschaever on August 13, 1955 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2013.
Mr. Hillman had been employed at Rock Island Railroad as a switchman. He later was employed at the former Consumers Sand and Gravel (Riverstone Group), Rock Island and had been the owner/operator of Hillman Instrument Company, Milan.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Milan and the Knights of Columbus. Lee enjoyed traveling, coaching little league, fishing, avid fan of high school wrestling, Fighting Illini and playing cards.
Survivors include his son, Donald (Lisa) Hillman Jr., Cherokee, IA; daughter, Michelle (Doug) Miers, Rock Island; grandchildren, Sarah(Richard) Eiss, Kathleen(Luke) Frye, Elizabeth(Brandon) Ankrum, Meghan Miers, Jake Miers; great grandchildren, Alex Eiss, Camiel Eiss, Hannah Frye, Autumn Frye, Hayden Ankrum; siblings, Rexine Brown, Gene Hillman and Barb Orwig.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Camiel Hillman; great grandson, Noah Ankrum; parents; siblings, Shirley, Otis, Jake, Nancy.
