Donald E. LaMay, 82, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan - Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Graveside services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at Princeville Township Cemetery, Princeville, Ill. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald Eugene LaMay was born March 5, 1932 in Princeville, Ill., a son of William LaMay and Lorena Streator LaMay. He married Elizabeth Marie Griswold on June 1, 1956 in Princeville, Ill.

Donald retired from the Rock Island Lines Railroad after 25 years as an engine mechanic.

Donald was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a loyal member of the VFW and Milan American Legion Post No. 569

Survivors include Elizabeth Marie LaMay; and children, Nancy (James) Meade, Layton, UT; Rick (Judith) LaMay, Camdenton, MO; James LaMay, Rock Island, Ill.; Keith (Terri Winger) LaMay, Moline, Ill.; Andrew (Hope) LaMay, Rock Island, Ill.; grandchildren, Jesse and Matthew Meade, and James Jr., Victoria, and Chad LaMay and one great-grandchild, Alex Meade

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Patricia Kibbey, Marilyn Grigg, and Wilbur LaMay.
